First of all we would like to say a big thank you to everyone for their fantastic competition entries on our Facebook page. In just over a month we’ve had more than 300 of you telling us just how extreme you are. We’ve been busy reading some crazy stuff and have had the tough job narrowing them all down to our top 10. So here are our top 10 favourite extreme stories from all of you lovely people.

10. Tami Ritchie – “Went out on a 6 day bender. No sleep and work in between. Not good working drunk”.

9. Austin Phillip – “The most extreme thing I’ve done was to travel Europe on my own when I was 16. I was skint, exited, scared and sometimes very, very lost. I met many strange and wonderful people on my way and I loved every second of it. Truly cherished memories that I will never forget.”

8. Lindy Hine – “Most extreme thing I have ever done was fall over a cliff in Devon! I was admiring some primroses, stepped on a chunk of earth which gave way and landed many, many feet below on the beach. Surprisingly all that I needed was a couple of stitches in my head. I was obviously built to bounce.”

7. Phillip St – “In a three sided lift, getting my arm trapped in the open doorway as it was moving between floors. Then having to work out whether I had to press up or down to free it, where the wrong choice would have ripped it off at the shoulder.”

6. Andrew Halliwell – “While in the Territorial Army a few years ago, I was on a training exercise on mid-winter. The temperature was getting down to -10°c and I was lying in a dugout on watch for 5 hours. To make things even worse my watch ended after dark and no fires were allowed as they’d be seen. My considerate “partner” hadn’t even considered the fact I might want a hot cup of tea and meal when I got back.”

5. Louise Comb – “Went to Iceland for the best holiday of my life: Snowmobiled across a glacier; whale-watched; White water rafted; saw natural geysers and mud pools, and OMG the waterfalls – often shrouded in glimmering rainbows! And I’m not usually someone adventurous at all.”

4. Rachel Humphries – “Did the Birmingham Walkathon (26 miles) last year. To get myself ready I laid off curry for a couple of days. Yep that was my training. I didn’t even buy new trainers. I am really determined and refused to give up so completed it. Problems was when we got home we couldn’t get my shoes off, after a couple of alcoholic shots we managed it, unfortunately a lot of my feet where left in the shoes. My blisters were so bad I had to have a magic skin medical product stuck all other my feet so they could heal. The most extreme thing I did during that day I would say was forcing myself into the warm bath with feet the equivalent of raw sausage meat. Yes it really did hurt. Mind you I’m climbing a mountain this year in a couple of months. Have I started my training yet? Nope. But I will stop eating curry soon, maybe?”

3. Maria Reilly – “Refused to fly, and having spending my next month’s wage on coach, ferry, train and taxi fares to get home! Why? Because I was scared. I went to see Bon Jovi in Madrid as a special treat for me and my daughter. So it all started really well! We left, got on a plane and then the plane’s emergency lighting came on and engines went silent. It was only for a few moment and then things went back to normal. However I was panic stricken. I clung to my seat for the rest of the journey to Madrid. We arrived, enjoyed the sunshine and went to the best concert imaginable. Jon Bon Jovi certainly helped send temperatures rising. And me and my daughter sang “Livin’ on a Prayer” so loud we lost our voices. Then it came to home time! We went to the airport and I realised I just couldn’t get on a plane again. I was terrified! I phoned my husband who went crazy and demanded I got on that plane but I couldn’t. I had to go back to the hotel and with the help of the receptionist we booked a coach, ferry, train and taxi to get us home at a cost of over £450. Not clever and it got me banned from booking any more concerts abroad. I can now fly again, although it’s still not a good feeling.”

2. Cath Beckett – “I went to France on the back of my partner’s motorbike (Honda Fireblade) with friends, my first time abroad, stayed at centre parks and ate frogs legs, squid and other strange foods, drank loads of wine of course and did plenty of outdoor activities. On returning home i found out i was pregnant with twins. I was very lucky I had boys who are three year’s old now and both fine, no thanks to my exploits. “

1. Vicky-Louise Robinson – “When I was a child I lived in a mud hut in Kano Nigeria with my parents and two sisters. We spent several years out there while my dad taught in the state Polytechnic. More recently everyone thinks I’m extreme because I have 8 children.”

Congratulations Vicky-Louise. For going from one extreme lifestyle to another we salute you. As a reward for this you will receive the brand new Scroll Extreme.

In the show they review in their words “Android on a budget”.

With our Extreme at just £189 Dave, the reviewer, says he was very impressed by just how much technology you can get for such a small price. Particular highlights for him were the front and rear cameras, the quality of the screen and its responsiveness.

We have had a really busy week here at Storage Options HQ and we are pleased to announce that the Scroll Extreme is now in stock, exclusively at eBuyer – you can get yours here.

We also wanted to clear something up once and for all as we have had a number of questions about the screen. We can confirm that the Scroll Extreme actually boasts the latest IPS (in-plane switching) LCD technology which delivers truly stunning results. The IPS technology allows the user to enjoy vivid and natural images, even when viewing the device’s screen from the side. It is perfect for enjoying anything multimedia based or simply for sharing with someone sat next to you. No more having to look at the screen head on all of the time.

We have been thrilled with the feedback we have received from customers that have already got their units. Here is a quick comment on our previous post from which should help you to make your mind up. Alternatively check out all of the customer reviews here on eBuyer itself.

Have a lovely Easter!

We are proud to announce our fastest ever tablet PC and the world’s most powerful tablet under £200 to use the Android 4.0 operating system and support the output of 3D content.

The new Scroll Extreme has been added to our popular and award-winning Scroll tablet portfolio. It is packed with a variety of innovative new features and is the cheapest high quality tablet of its type in the world, at only £189.99, initially exclusive with eBuyer.com and available to pre-order from today.

Operating on Android’s latest tablet operating system 4.0, commonly known as Ice Cream Sandwich, the Scroll Extreme delivers a smooth and intuitive user experience with a superior performance powered by its 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor.

Paul Evison, Head of Brand for Storage Options commented: “The last few months have been truly staggering for us at Storage Options. We have been blown away by the support we have received for the Scroll Excel and we were obviously delighted when it was picked as The Gadget Show’s favourite budget tablet back in November. We have always known that our customers wanted quick, slick and responsive devices that are packed with features, without the burden of a premium price tag and the Scroll Extreme really does deliver exactly that. This is the first tablet we have produced on the Android 4.0 operating system and the whole user experience is vastly improved and far more intuitive than previous versions of Android.”

The new slim-line and lightweight aluminium unit boasts 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor with Mali-400 dual core graphics processing and 1GB DDR3 RAM with 8GB Memory built-in and the ability to expand through a micro SD Card up to 32GB, making it easily the most powerful and fast Scroll ever created.

Paul adds: “Our development team are really proud of this device and I think our customers are going to be blown away at the standard we have achieved for such a low price. The user experience is really impressive on its 9.7 inch screen and the fact it supports Flash helps it to provide a much richer viewing experience all round.”

The Android 4.0 operating system makes popular actions more visible and lets the user navigate with simple, intuitive gestures. An entirely new typeface optimised for high-resolution screens has improved readability and brings a more polished feel to the Extreme’s interface. New virtual buttons in the system bar enable the user to navigate more easily. Multitasking has also been made easier and more visual.

With a 16-bit G-sensor, enabling the ten inch screen to rotate 360 degrees, teamed with Flash support and a responsive, capacitive touch screen, the Scroll Extreme is perfect for internet browsing, social networking, reading E-Books, online TV and video services.

The Scroll Extreme also has the ability, like its smaller cousin the Scroll Excel, to output 3D content directly to a 3D TV, or monitor, by downloading 3D content to the tablet and played back on a big screen through a mini HDMI cable. It will also output 1080p HD video content in the same manner.

The Scroll Extreme will be on sale from April, exclusively available for pre-order now with eBuyer.com.

As with all of our products, these devices are supplied with clearly-written and annotated manuals and are backed by a local-rate technical support phone line serviced by experts based in the UK.

We blogged a couple of days ago to say that direct sales from us were shifting at record rates but now they have totally sold out. If you have already ordered one from us, please don’t worry these will be delivered to you as agreed.

Both units are still widely available (at the time of writing) with our retail partners, although we expect demand to outstrip supply again. If you want to know where to look check out this page.

At Storage Options we have been inundated with enquiries about the Scroll Excel and in turn the comments and feedback from you guys has been very positive and we are hugely grateful. This positivity has led to us selling everything we have at our head quarters. However, we will be getting a new batch in around 16th February 2012. So we are now taking pre-orders for that batch, if you missed out this time.

We apologise if this has caused any inconvenience and if you have any further questions about the technical specification of the product please feel free to contact us on 0844 248 7191.

We have had our busiest few months ever and we are hoping to build on this with the recent launch of our camera range.

Back in October we launched them and spoke to a few bloggers to see if they could put the cameras through their paces and see what they thought. We covered a few of the earlier posts last month but here is a selection of what they had to say:

Danielle from http://www.blogbybaby.com and www.thefamilyexpress.com has written about her experiences but here are a few things she said:

The cameras have a range of 100m to pair up with the base, which I am sure is more than sufficient, unless you are lucky enough to live in a very very large house.

You can chose to have the screen with both of the cameras on it, or you can chose to have just one of the cameras on view. It is easy to change with just one button to change the view to your desired camera. The screen size is 11cm.

It will also be fantastic for me to watch Mark napping while I am in the garden too! It means that J can play LEGO in his bedroom, while I amuse my toddler downstairs. It really has made out lives so much easier!

Sarah from Supersinglemum has also been playing with a KidCam and she had a few things to say too:

I have to say the KidCam really has changed the amount of independence I can let H have, and I am sure as she grows the use of the KidCam will adapt, for instance to cover her playing in the garden while I sort the washing. I guess the benefits are endless especially as a single parent, two kids with only one set of eyes can be hard!

Adapters are available for you to use the device in the car, and also available are the BabyCam Car and BabyCam Nursery, so whatever your child monitoring needs they have something for you.

Lynley Oram from Play Pennies has also been testing out one of our products, she was testing the KidCam. Lynley comments:

I’m definitely going to be use the Kid Cam a lot. If my little one is playing with her toys in the living room, I can stick the little camera up on the shelf and keep an eye on her if I need to do something else in another room.

So don’t listen to what we say about these products, listen to the people that have tested them in their homes. If you have any questions about any of our products feel free to contact our support team on 0844 248 7191.

Just a quick post to help any customers who need technical support for their Storage Options’ product over the Christmas and New Year period.

Christmas and New Year Opening Hours
Here are the dates and times that our support team will be available to respond to queries:

Christmas Day : Closed
Boxing day : Closed
27th December : Closed
28th December : 9am – 5.30pm
29th December : 9am – 5.30pm
30th December : 9am – 5.30pm
31st December : Closed
1st January : Closed
2nd January : Closed
3rd January : 9am – 5.30pm

High Demand is Likely, How to Make the Process Easy
With lots of Christmas presents being opened and general seasonal demand, it’s likely that our support team will be very busy during this period. In order to offer as fair and efficient service as possible, we would be grateful if customers would please read the following; it might well save you some time and get you up and running faster than you thought!

1. Please review the support pages of this website
Chances are you will be able to solve the problem yourself. For example, if you’re having problems connecting your Scroll to your wireless network, we have produced an exhaustive guide on this very subject. Take a few minutes to read this as it will probably save you time in the long run.

2. Try again
The biggest single query we deal with is caused by incorrectly entering the password for the wireless network. Check that you’ve got the right one, it hasn’t been changed (by the kids?) and try again. You never know…

3. We want to help, but have to help everyone
If you need some help then rest assured we will deal with your query as quickly as we can. You can call, email or fill out an online form, but be aware they are all dealt with by the same team and are dealt with on a first come, first served basis.

4. Don’t be afraid of voice mail
At busy times it’s likely that we won’t be able to answer the phone as we’ll already be dealing with other queries. Please leave a message as we will get back to you! We promise! Even if it takes longer than a working day (as it would ordinarily) we won’t forget about you. All messages will be answered.

5. Contact us, once
Please help us manage requests as efficiently as possible by only emailing, leaving a voice mail or completing the support request form once for each issue. This will speed up our overall response times and result in better service for all.

6. Be clear and concise
If you’re leaving a voice mail make sure you leave a phone number where we can contact you. If sending an email, please include as much detail as possible (the product name, a clear description of the problem and what you have tried etc.) and ideally include a phone number so we can call you back to resolve the issue. Make sure you’ve spelt your email address correctly too – there’s nothing worse than having our reply bounce back because of a typo you’ve made.

7. Don’t be social. For Now…
We love Twitter, Facebook and Youtube as much as you do, but it’s best to avoid using these channels to raise support queries as it is very difficult for us manage them all. Any support queries made through these channels will be pointed to our support website. This also helps us manage the queries in the correct order and ensures fairness for all. Same goes for comments on this blog; for a faster response go to the support section of the website instead.

8. Don’t panic!
We won’t let you down. Even if you are very unfortunate and have a faulty product we will get you a replacement as soon as possible.

And Finally, The Number 1 Support Query – Incorrect Wifi Password
As mentioned above, the query we receive more than any other is to do with connecting a Scroll device to a wireless network. The most common problem causing this is an incorrect wireless password. Please check you have the right password (are you sure someone hasn’t changed it?) and you are entering it correctly!

Thanks for your help; we really hope we can deliver a great service over what will be a very busy period.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
